Finding a Literary Agent

Finding a Literary Agent

Finding a literary agent is every debut novelist’s Holy Grail. Literary agents are your in into the fiercely competitive publishing world. They know people. They know editors who can propel your book into the literary stratosphere. After 6 weeks of intensive querying followed by multiple offers of representation, I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve found a literary agent to represent my debut novel, THE HEAVY TRUTH.

The whole process of finding a literary agent has been unexpectedly humbling, terrifying and insomnia-inducing. Sending my manuscript out into the universe took guts. I received some outright rejections of my weird psychological suspense story (“Oh no. This is not for me”), some thoughtful comments and other total rave reviews. I never in a million years dreamed I’d be in the enviable – possibly unenviable – position of receiving more than one offer. It sounds like every debut novelist’s dream, but in reality it was a very tough decision and has kept me up at nights for the past two weeks.

In the end, I followed my head and heart. I can’t wait to work with my agent on my debut novel and more to come.

  1. Congratulations! Paige is great. I don’t know her personally but I’ve been following her work, and taking her advice, for years. Best of luck! I’ll be following along and I can’t wait to read your work!
